Blog Deep Dive: Is My SmartPhone Hurting Me?

Is My Smartphone Hurting Me? After reading the two articles I now have a deeper understanding of what our generation has become. The first article talked about the differences in childhood behaviors between GenZ, which is my generation, and GenX which is my parent's generation. She first talked about the ways  GenX’s would go about their day being social butterflies and then compared us to them and she basically described our generation to be very lonely. “But the allure of independence, so powerful to previous generations, holds less sway over today’s teens, who are less likely to leave the house without their parents.”  (Twenge 4) It was shocking to hear the differences in data between the two generations. It is crazy to think about how these little handheld devices have such a huge impact on our lives. Throughout the article, Jean frequently mentioned the active differences between the two generations but then started talking about...

Blog Deep Dive into the Next Subject

Things I want: a tv in my room, the bigger bedroom, a new car, all of my favorite foods, sleep, to stress less, be Able to eat all of the junk food in the world without feeling sick to my stomach,  The jury is still out: chemistry at the moment, how I’ve written more in the past week than in an entire school year, horror movies aren’t good anymore cause they aren’t scary. My media and my obsessions: Tacos, Sushi, Sza, Rihanna, my bed, napping , procrastinating, online shopping, hockey and lacrosse, chipotle, the movies, cats. Things that bother me: scraping of forks against glass plates, people chewing loudly with their mouth open, people coughing without covering their mouth, people trying to funny when they are just being stupid and embarrassing themselves, talking when the teacher is talking, when you order food at a drive through or online and they get the order completely wrong or when they don’t give you any sauce.  Junk food or healthy food?    ...

Blog Deep Dive with Sherlock Holmes, Fairies, and the Devil Baby of Hull House

Conan Doyle gained fame by creating the world's foremost fictional detective in Sherlock Holmes, but in what ways did he fail to do good detective work himself when it came to the Case of the Cottingham Fairies? Conan Doyle was known for his creation of the famous Sherlock Holmes. A detective who was known for his mystery solving and investigation abilities. Based on the fact Conan Doyle created Sherlock Holmes himself it would be asumible that Conan Doyle would also follow the critical steps and listen to the tedious methods of investigation. But unfortunately he fell short after the Case of the Cottingham Fairies investigation. The problem Conan Doyle had in the very beginning was he assumed that the girls were innocent souls who didn’t have the ability to alter such photos, in which case was true to an extent but still doesn’t stray from the fact he assumed and didn’t investigate the photographs deeper. He also trusted the words of others when he made clear in Sherlock Ho...

Blog Deep dive- My Weekend Challenge

My Weekend Challenge My weekend challenge was very overwhelming and exciting at the same time. My challenge was calling college coaches for the very first time. I have never in my life had a call with a person with such power but now it feels like I have about a million. It was very intimidating and I was so nervous but it was very important because I learned good questions to ask and not so good ones, I learned that each coach is different and each experience won’t be the same. This experience has impacted my life so much and I believe it will forever make me successful in the future. For future interviews for work, college and just talking to people in general I feel like it will be easier from this experience of a lifetime.
